It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to our beloved husband, father, grandfather, Robert “Bob” LeRoy Santos who passed away peacefully February 13, 2017 at Stanford Medical Center.

Bob was born on January 28, 1944 to Rufus and Eva (Enos) Santos in Modesto, the youngest of five children.  Bob attended Downey High School and graduated in 1961. During his high school years he met and dated his future wife, Ellen (Wine) Santos. After graduation, Bob joined the Navy and then graduated from Stanislaus State and USC.  Bob was an instructor, bibliographer, and archivist at CSUS library for 37 years.  He would go on to publish and write for hundreds of periodicals including his own local periodical, Stanislaus Historical Quarterly,  which covered Stanislaus County history.  Bob felt a duty and responsibility to keep history alive.  Bob traveled to over 20 countries and all 50 states. Traveling with Bob was always informative because of his extensive knowledge of the areas and their history.   Bob’s greatest love was his family:  Ellen, his wife of 53 years, his son Jeffrey, his daughter, Diane, and his granddaughters, Alley and Cassy.  He passed on his love of music and writing to his children and grandchildren. He was a man of deep faith, which he shared with family, friends, and his church . We will miss his gentle soul, his thoughtfulness, his sense of humor, his smile, his in-depth conversations about life, sports, politics and religion.  We are comforted  knowing he is in the comforting arms of the Lord.   A  memorial service will be held March 11th, 11:30 am, at First Presbyterian Church, Turlock.  Donations in Bob’s memory may made to:  Turlock Gospel Mission, Westside Ministries, and First Presbyterian Church’s tutoring program.
