Robert “Bob” Schmidt passed away on June 24, 2017 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House after a long battle with cancer. Bob was born in January 1937 to Jack and Ellen Schmidt in Newman, California. He later moved to Waterford with his family, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He graduated from Oakdale High School in 1955.  Bob met his wife Billie Petersen of Hilmar at the Coconut Grove in Santa Cruz, California.  The two built a life for themselves in Waterford where Bob farmed almonds and was an active member of the community. If Bob wasn’t found working in the field you would be able to find him volunteering at various neighborhood events. Bob was a Mason who served in the California National Guard. He was on the Board for Salida Almond Hulling and Waterford Irrigation District. Member of the Waterford Lions Club, Stanislaus Farm Bureau, Oakdale Golf and Country Club and the Community Baptist Church.  Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years Billie Schmidt, their children Mark Schmidt and Sheri (Jeff) Maciel and his two grandchildren Katie and Kyle Maciel. He is also survived by his siblings, Jackie Schmidt Brisbin, Steve Schmidt and Phillip Schmidt. 

Services will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Community Baptist Church in Waterford at 11:00 a.m..  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may me made to the Shriner’s Hospital, Alexander Cohen Hospice House or a charity of your choice.
