(Bob) passed away peacefully at home after a short illness of pancreatic/liver cancer under the care of Covenant Care Hospice.

He was born in Kingman, Kansas to Paul Screen and Frances Jarmer Screen.  His family moved many times in the western states while his father worked as a mechanic and miner, finally settling in Bishop, CA.  His parents divorced in 1945 and his mother and the children returned to Kansas.  The children Bob, Bill and Elaine lived in a Catholic children’s home in El Dorado, KS as their mother was unable to care for them.  Bob remembers the good care the sisters of St. Joseph provided to all the children.  At age 15 he was required to leave the home and was able to live with his mother.  He attended St. Mary’s High School in Wichita. He moved to Dodge City the next year to work in the wheat harvest.  He stayed in Dodge City and finished High School and attended one year of college at St. Mary’s of The Plains College.  He then enlisted in the Army for 2 years and served at Fort Bliss, Texas in a guided missile battalion.  He returned to Dodge City and finished college with a degree in Business.  He married Ramona Oyler in 1962, worked in Dodge City for a year and they had one daughter, Belinda. He moved to Great Bend, had a son, Kevin, obtained a teaching credential and moved to Wichita to teach business classes at Bishop Carroll High School.  They had one more son, Jayson. They divorced in 1975.  He met his present wife, Marge, an RN, later that year and they were married in July 1976 at St. John’s Catholic Church.  They became active in Marriage Encounter. Bob earned his Master Degree in Educational Administration from Wichita State University.  They moved, with Kevin to Eugene, Oregon in 1979 where he taught business classes at Marist Catholic High School and Marge worked at Sacred Heart Hospital. They enjoyed many outdoor activities with family and friends.  They moved to San Diego in 1986 after Kevin graduated from the University of Oregon.  Bob worked as a book keeper for Terminex and retired in 2000.  In June of 2000 they moved to Turlock, CA to be close to Kevin and his wife Nancy.

Along with his loving wife Marge, Bob was an active member of All Saints University Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus.  He was a long-time member of the Turlock Garden Club, the Turlock Sunshine Strummers ukulele group and the Silver Sneakers exercise group at Brenda Athletic Club.  Bob and Marge traveled extensively in their motorhome for 17 years to visit family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 ½ years, Margaret (Marge) Wolff, daughter, Belinda Siemiller (Steve) of Wichita, KS. son, Kevin (Nancy) of Turlock, CA. son, Jayson of Wichita, KS and their mother Ramona Oyler Mirt of Wichita, KS. 7 grandchildren – Bobby Screen (Reno, NV) and Therese Screen (Phoenix, AZ) (their mother Jana Way), Blaine and McKayla Siemiller (Wichita, KS). Nellie and Nathan Screen (Turlock, CA) and Riley Screen (Wichita, KS).His brother, Bill Screen (Jean) of Bishop, CA and their sons Mark and Doug.  Sister, Elaine Matchett of Eugene, OR, her sons Jamie Matchett (Wichita KS) and John and her daughter Tammy (Eugene, Or)

Bob is remembered for his helpfulness, loving and fun manner, his curiosity, his love of the Catholic faith and enjoyment and devotion to his family and friends. 

Memorial Service mass will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:00pm at All Saints University Catholic Church, 4040 McKenna Drive, Turlock, CA. Refreshments will be served after the service. Interment of his ashes will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Wichita, KS.

Bob requested In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Knights of Columbus, men’s service organization of the Catholic church, at All Saint’s Catholic church. His last wish for his family and friends was that “We stop and smell the people”.
