A memorial service for Ronald M. Kessler, 49, of Patterson, will be held at 4 p.m. July 29 at the Family Christian Center in Patterson. Ronald Kessler passed away at home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved husband, father, brother, son and friend, Ronald Kessler was born to Richard and Margaret Kessler in Milwaukee, Wis. on Jan. 14, 1960. At a very young age, he and his family moved to California. Ronald and his brothers spent a lot of time in the Haight-Ashbury District of San Francisco. Through his high school years, he attended Colma High. At the age of 13, he met Dinah Bardwell of Daily City, who soon became the love of his life. They where later married, on May 21, 1978, one year later they celebrated the birth of their first son. In 1980, they relocated to Patterson, where their second son was born, their only daughter was soon to follow in 1982.
Ronald lived in California for 45 years; Patterson was his home for a little over 10 years. As a young man he had many interests and hobbies, some of which where crafts and wood working. Ronald’s real passion was working on old cars. He loved every aspect of the word car; he loved to race them, acquire them, but mostly he loved to fix them up. He would find any excuse to work on any vehicle. He loved it almost as much as he loved his children, “it just depends on who you ask.” Ronald was an exceptional man, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ronald’s greatest accomplishment and bravest fight was a 7-month battle with cancer. In the face of uncertainty, Ronald made the decision to undergo chemotherapy, and though he struggled through bad days, his beautiful blue eyes never lost sight of what he was fighting for. Ronald’s extraordinary personality, sense of humor and vibrant smile never wavered. Ronald re-dedicated his life to Christ in February, his renewed faith helped carry him through this fight with grace.
Ronald leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Dinah Lynn Kessler of Patterson; children, Ronald Martin Kessler Jr. of Modesto, Raymond Mitchell Kessler of Patterson, and Michelle Lynn Becerra of Modesto; mother, Margaret Edith Kessler of Modesto; brothers, Richard Michael Kessler of Lodi, Randolph Matthew Kessler of Sacramento and Robert Mark Kessler of Lodi; and eight wonderful grandchildren with whom he spent a great deal of personal time with — each and every one of them.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Marion Waite; and father, Richard Matthew Kessler.
