Wally Wood passed away suddenly at his Covenant Village residence in Turlock on Dec. 31, 2009 at the age of 84.  
He was the only child of Alice and Edward Wood of Chicago, Ill. He got his early education in the Chicago public schools and graduated from Purdue University in 1949 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served in the European theater of operation during World War II and received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He worked for various companies including Electrical  Engineering in Minneapolis, Allis Chalmers in York, Penn., Vost Alpine in New Jersey and as a consultant engineer for Hudson International in Philadelphia.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Lorraine.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main St., Turlock. Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 W. McCabe Rd., Gustine.
Remembrances may be made to the Benevolent Funds of Covenant Village, 2125 N. Olive Ave., Turlock, CA 95382.
