The Journal: Keeping you informed during trying times
Turlock Journal logo

Local newspapers have long been a reliable source of information during times of crisis and the current coronavirus pandemic sweeping the country is no different. The Turlock Journal is committed to bringing our readers the information they need to stay safe — and sane — during these trying times.

As a community newspaper, our focus will always be on how events are affecting local residents and businesses, while at the same time keeping you updated on what’s happening around the state and country.

Our print publications will see some changes in the coming weeks, however, due to the dramatic decrease in business activity.

The Journal’s Friday Shopper publication will be suspended until this time of economic instability is over. We will continue to publish and deliver our Wednesday and Saturday editions.

Due to the suspension of all local sporting events, we have decided to drop sports coverage until youth, high school and college games resume. (Don’t worry Blitz fans, when those Friday night lights blaze, we will be there to catch all the high school gridiron action!)

Our regular Wednesday feature on individual local shops will give way to stories on how different types of businesses are coping with new limited social activity orders. Our Arts & Leisure section will also see changes as all local entertainment venues are on hiatus.

While the number of pages in your biweekly Journal may drop, our team of reporters, photographers and designers are working double time to gather information on health, public safety, education, business, government and people in your community. In the next few weeks, print subscribers will also receive the April/May issue of 209 Magazine. We hope this lifestyle magazine will be a few hours distraction from the serious events going on in the world today.

The World Health Organization has deemed it safe to receive packages such as newspapers and magazines, even from areas which have reported cases of COVID-19, but subscribers can also access all the Journal’s content on our website: www.turlockjournal.com.

If you are not a subscriber, start today! If you are a business owner, this is the perfect time to launch a digital advertising campaign due to the unprecedented traffic on our website. The Journal is a small business too, and we appreciate your support!
