Both Cal State Stanislaus soccer teams will be on the road to start the 2012 season before beginning the California Collegiate Athletic Association schedule at home in September.
After a two-match road trip to the Pacific Northwest, which includes crossing the border to take on Simon Fraser in British Columbia, the Warrior women will open defense of their CCAA title on Sept. 7 at Warrior Stadium. The match against Cal State Dominguez Hills will be the first of four straight matches on home pitch.
"We are excited to open the season with an international trip. St Martin's and Simon Fraser will both be excellent opponents and prepare us for CCAA play," said women's soccer head coach Gabriel Bolton. "As usual CCAA play will be very competitive. It is the best women's soccer conference in the country and we can't wait to get started."
Last season, the Stanislaus women were 6-3-2 at home and swept through the CCAA Championships, capped with a 4-0 win over Chico State to win the conference title. The Warriors also advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time.
As for the men, the Warriors open the 2012 campaign with Fresno Pacific on Aug. 30 in Fresno before the conference opener against the CSUDH Toros at Warrior Stadium, where the Warriors were 8-2 in 2011. Since Warrior Stadium opened in 2009, the Stanislaus men are 24-5-2 in matches played at home.
For the past three seasons, Cal State Stanislaus was No. 1 in women's soccer attendance while the men's program led the nation two out of the last three seasons.
