Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball head coach Larry Reynolds officially named two more junior college transfers in Reggie Jones and Dan Daviess, who have signed their letters of intent to join the Warriors this fall.
Jones, a 6-9, 245-pound forward from Ohlone College, was named California Community College co-Player of the Year after he led Ohlone to the State Tournament Elite Eight. He averaged 14.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game with a prolific 61 percent from the field.
Jones, originally from Patterson, N.J., and Ohlone went 22-4 overall and won the Northern California JC tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to eventual state champion Saddleback.
"We are extremely happy to welcome such a highly decorated JC player into our program," Reynolds said. "Reggie is capable of playing a number of positions and brings us a very versatile player at 6-9."
Also committed to the Warriors is Daviess, a 6-2 guard from Diablo Valley College. Daviess, a Danville native, was named to the All-Big 8 conference team in 2009-10 after averaging 15 points, 3.1 assists per game. He shot 43 percent from the three-point arch and 79 percent from the foul line last season.
"Dan is a scorer that is an excellent three-point shooter. He has played for a very good junior college program that is in a strong conference. He will help strengthen our back court," Reynolds said.
Daviess is also solid in academics with a 3.52 GPA in two years at DVC.
Last month, the men's basketball program announced the addition of Brett Sayad of Modesto Junior College and Evan Scott of Columbia College.
