There was a total of 14 high schools that competed in Saturday’s Stanislaus County Meet from Johansen High and after the day of swimming concluded Turlock High’s boys (238.5) and girls (251) finished in second place, respectively, while the Pitman girls placed fourth.

“I am really proud of the boys and the results. They have swum well and as a team keep improving,” said Turlock coach Anne Cornell.

The Pride did see a handful of top results, especially on the girl’s side, that had standout performances.

Audrey Morgan, Ruth Ramirez and Nolan Lok each had significant days swimming.

“Ruth took off nearly 20 seconds on her 500 and six off her 100 breastroke,” said Pitman coach Shane Nunes. “We swam well and did what we wanted to after a hard week’s work.”

Lok placed fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.16.

Pitman’s Leah Trainor finished in fourth place in the 100-yard freestyle, while Turlock’s Jacqueline Vierra and Kathryn McMillan followed in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Trainor also placed third in the 100 back, while teammate Gaby Sotomayor placed eighth.

Morgan placed second in the 100 breast after clocking in at 1:16.86.

The Pride’s girls 400 freestyle relay team placed third with a time of 4:09.01.

Turlock placed second in the 400-freestyle relay with a time of 4:06.01.

“Our only races that placed top three were the 200 and 400 free relay, which both placed third,” said Turlock girls coach Lauren Bettencourt. “We had a lot of fourth places which kept us high in points. It honestly wasn't our best day in terms of the times we swam and a few girls are injured at the moment, but the relays did a nice job.”

The 200-free relay team included Lindsey Amos, Katy McMillan, Nicole Groteguth and Isabella Romeo. The 400-free relay team included Vierra, McMillan, Groteguth and Romeo.

Lily Odey of Turlock also placed first in diving.

For the boys, Trent Yandell of Turlock placed first in the 50 and 100 free.

The Turlock boys 200-yard medley relay team placed third after Matt Hesse, Dylan Bernardi, Philip Delgadillo and Yandell finished with a time of 1:50.82.

“The boys took second at the Pacheco swim meet two weekends ago as well,” said Cornell.

Turlock varsity boys and girls currently hold a CCC record of 2-2 while both JV teams are undefeated.

Turlock’s next meet will be against Buhach Colony on the road at 3 p.m. Friday.

Pitman’s next dual meet will be against El Capitan at home at 3 p.m. Friday.
