In a Southern Athletic League showdown between Denair and Turlock Christian on the tennis courts, it was the Coyotes who prevailed with a 7-2 victory on Friday.

“TC's girls are still very good and I think they proved that,” Denair head coach Paul Michaelis said.

With TC's limited team, the Eagles were forced into four forfeits, however, they still managed to come away with two wins in convincing fashion.

The Eagles' number one singles girls player in Savannah Swanson took down Aliah Ibarra in straight sets, 6-1 and 6-2.

At the number two singles, Brenna Visaraga defeated Kaelee Martinez, 6-0 and 6-1 ,to give TC their second win of the day.

“Their top two girls, Savanna and Brenna are very good, [they] stood out to me,” Michaelis said.

After the day, the Denair Coyotes are 5-5 in league while the Eagles of TC are 0-10.

The most competitive match of the day was in the mixed doubles, which was a split set that went into a tiebreaker that ended 6-0, 5-7, 7-6 (8-6) in favor of Denair.

Denair's Brian Dudley is still undefeated at 10-0 after defeating TC's Petra Hort on Friday, 6-1 and 6-0.

“Brian [Dudley] is still undefeated in league and he is playing pretty good tennis this year. I knew he would be amongst the better ones, but I didn’t think he would still be undefeated; someone could beat him but has exceeded my expectations,” Michaelis said.

Denair’s next match is Tuesday at Gustine High with a starting time of 3 p.m. On Tuesday, the Eagles of TC will host Delhi at 3:30 p.m.
