Coyotes to name baseball field after retired coach

For those familiar with Denair High baseball, it wasn't a huge surprise to hear that the school's baseball field will be named after longtime baseball coach Ron Cornell. He retired last season after 38 years of coaching the Coyotes.

The official naming will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, with the Denair Booster club selling tri-tip sandwiches and hot dogs. After that, Denair will host Turlock Christian High in a Southern League game at 3:45 p.m.

Cornell took over the varsity program in 1977 after Rick Frazer left.
