'Jackets blow out Warriors

Orestimba High was pumped up for a homecoming win on Friday night, but the Hilmar Yellowjackets barely allowed the Warriors one score in a 49-6 blowout.

The Yellowjackets (5-0) dominated the field from the get go, as a Jonathan O'Brien pass to Bailey Gomes saw Hilmar on the scoreboard with its first possession. O'Brien ran the ball in himself for the 'Jackets touchdown number two.

Orestimba (1-4) tried to slow down the Yellowjacket momentum with a  series of timeouts, but their efforts were unsuccessful, as O'Brien  made contact with Tyler Robinson for the 'Jackets' third score of the evening.

The Warriors regained possession of the ball only to have Hilmar's Kenny Camden intercept for another 'Jacket touchdown.

All of this was in the first quarter alone.

In the second quarter the Warriors put up more of a fight, but they weren’t able to keep the 'Jackets from scoring by another O’Brien pass to Gomes , followed by an O’ Brien to Kris Camden.

The second half went much the same as the first when Hilmar opened with a Beau Balswick pass to Jeremy Cico for the score. But that was all the 'Jackets would score until the next quarter.

Determined to not be shutout at their own homecoming, Orestimba finally put points on the scoreboard when Cameron Mar ran in the ball.

Hilmar would not score again, ending the game 49-6.

The Yellowjackets will hold their own homecoming game against Riverbank at 7:30 p.m. next Friday.
