After dominating its conference competition and finishing the 2012 season as undefeated champions, Turlock High took part in Monday’s Divisional Tournament, teeing off against the likes of Golden Valley High, Modesto High, and St. Mary’s High. The Bulldogs finished the day in third place with a stroke count of 414, two strokes behind second place Modesto. St. Mary’s took the top spot with a 390.

“I thought we shot well enough to land in the runner up position,” Turlock’s head coach Jason Boswell said. “Modesto just had a great day.”

As has been the case throughout the season Turlock’s top three golfers, Hayden Sparks (78), Teo Chiesa (80), and Tyler Gomes (81), helped the Bulldogs navigate Dry Creek Ranch’s course and secure a third place finish. Monday’s performance also secured a trip to the Master’s Tournament which will be held at Spanos Reserve Park in Stockton on Monday.

Last year Turlock finished the Masters Tournament in seventh place but the Bulldogs are shooting for a top five finish this time around.

“If we can go out and play our game who knows what can happen,” Boswell said. “I think I have a couple kids that can play well and move on.”
