Turlock High varsity boys golf team won the Central California Conference tournament on Monday at Pheasant Run after the team, which was led by sophomore Connor Old's best score the day at 75, shot a combined 393.
“This was Connor's best round of the year. He deserved this because he works so hard,” said Jason Boswell, who has now won five CCC titles in six years.
Buhach Colony followed at 422 and Pitman finished in 3rd with a 432.
“I am really proud of all the kids for coming out here and competing,” said Pitman head coach Matt Jeans.
After Connor's best score, was his brother Bailey Old who shot a 77 and tied Pitman's Bryan Rouse and Buhach Colony's Shane Watts.
Preston Magina and Dylan Cummings shot a 79 and were tied for the third best score of the day.
“Bailey [Old] has been a steady leader all year. Preston [Magina] has been an all league performer and someone I can count on every round,” said Boswell.
Four of the five scores recorded for Turlock were under 79.
Logan Lucero finished with the lowest score for Turlock at 83.
“Logan has been a top performer all year and has shown he is an all league player,” said Boswell. “Dylan Cummings has been a great addition and a big part of our championship. This group has been my deepest team that I have had. All our kids could end up with all league honors this year.”
Chandler Hedrick of Pitman followed with an 84. Colton Lundquist was the third best for Pitman with an 86.
“Everyone did their best and especially Turlock with all their great golfers, they deserved to win,” said Jeans.
Turlock will only graduate one of their six golfers from this year's squad.
“We are undefeated and these kids deserve everything,” Boswell added. “They have been a great group to be around."
Divisionals will take place on Monday at Elk Horn in Stockton.
