It was a successful day Wednesday for the wrestlers at Turlock, Pitman and Hilmar highs. The three teams won their first league duals against Merced, Atwater and Orestimba High, respectively.

Turlock’s first CCC win was also its 20th straight dual victory this year. The Bulldogs defeated the Bears 46-16 in another dominant performance. Jason Valdovinos, Rico McCombs and Jessey Velasquez all recorded pins against the formidable Merced team.

Pitman’s 44-33 victory over Atwater might look like a close one, but the Pride led and controlled the entire match. Pitman relied on their heavy conditioning to pull them through the match against the experienced Falcons. Haydon Mattox, Eric Ruezga, Nick Valadez, Gabe Vega, Nick Renteria and Kyle Martinez came up big with pins.

Hilmar’s victory was its first of the season as the Yellowjackets’ conditioning finally caught up with them. The ‘Jackets 45-24 victory over the Warriors was aided by three forfeits and four crucial third period pins by Antonio Aguilar, Kyle Silva, Tyler Juncker and Eddie Miller.

Turlock and Hilmar are both participants in today’s annual Bulldog Classic at Turlock High while Pitman will travel to San Andreas and participate in the Gordon Hay Invitational tournament. All three teams will meet their next league opponents on Wednesday when Turlock hosts Atwater, Pitman hosts Golden Valley High and Hilmar hosts Modesto Christian High.
