Turlock and Pitman High competed in the second Central California Conference Cluster of the cross country season on Wednesday at Applegate Park in Merced.

With more than half of the season behind them, the Bulldogs and Pride put forth varied performances, both individually and as teams. Turlock ended the day with the best team scores between the two schools as its boys squad finished third overall and its girls squad came in fourth overall. Rex Doo’s 7th place time of 17:36 was the best individual Bulldog run on the day while Makenzie Salyer recorded a 4th place time of 21:10.8.

Both Pitman’s boys and girls finished with a disappointing 6th place team finish as illness and injuries continue to be a factor but, as has been the case all year, the Pride had some strong individual performances. Isaac Gonzalez was the first overall finisher in the boys’ race with a time of 16:48, his first first-place finish of the year. On the girls’ side, Jami Ford again led the pack with a 7th place time of 21:47.

Pitman will compete in the Eagle Invitational at Lodi Lakes on Oct. 19 before meeting Turlock and the rest of the CCC at Buhach Colony High on Oct. 24 for the third, and final, CCC Cluster meet.
