Turlock High’s wrestling team continued its impressive streak of dual wins on Wednesday. The Bulldogs (3-0 CCC) defeated Buhach Colony High 51-18, marking their 22nd consecutive dual win of the season.

Turlock claimed 10 of the dual’s 14 matches, recording three pins, two major decisions and one tech. The Bulldogs’ quest for their seventh Central California Conference title in the last 10 years will hinge on their performance in the final two conference duals of the season. Turlock will face Golden Valley High on Wednesday before its final match with Pitman High on Feb. 1. Turlock is currently participating in the Mid Cal tournament in Gilroy where they finished the first day of competition in second place.

Pitman also won its dual on Wednesday against Merced High in a close-fought meet. The Pride (2-1 CCC) pulled out a 35-33 win in the final match of the night.

Due to injuries and other personal issues Pitman’s lineup was without four wrestlers, opening up matches for some of the Pride’s younger wrestlers on the team. Kyle Martinez and Haydon Mattox came through big for Pitman with crucial wins, but it was Logan Wolfley who emerged as the night’s hero. The Pride were down 33-29 with one match to go, meaning that Wolfley had to either pin his opponent or win by a tech. Wolfley ended up pinning his opponent in the third period.

Pitman’s next opponent will be Buhach Colony High on Tuesday at home. The Pride are also competing in the Mid Cal tournament and finished in the top 10 on the first day.
