Bulldog baseball rolls into third straight league win

Turlock High’s varsity baseball team might be young but they are mighty and they continue to shake up their opponents, especially in league, after ousting El Capitan at home on Wednesday in a 9-4 decision.

The Bulldogs are off to a 3-0 start in the Central California Conference, outscoring their first three opponents, 25-5.

Turlock has also won six straight.

Dallin Tilby started for Turlock against EC and picked up his second straight win after tossing six innings, allowing five hits, a pair of runs, walked four and struck out six.

Turlock senior Tate Soderstrom (University of Arizona) also drilled a home-run for the game and was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Case Pacheco was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI. Tyler Etharidge was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

A total of seven players managed to get at least one hit for Turlock for the game.

Turlock scored four, two and three runs in separate innings while allowing just two runs in the fifth and two in the seventh.

Turlock’s next game will be on the road at El Capitan at 4 p.m. Friday.

 

Pride win third straight; 3-0 start in CCC

Three straight victories. That is how many wins the Pitman Pride varsity baseball team has clinched since starting the year off with a record of 2-5.

Since their tough preseason schedule, Pitman has been able to rebound and showcase their ability and resilience in the Central California Conference.

Wednesday was a test against Golden Valley at home and in the end, it took extra innings, but the Pride won it 3-2 in the eighth.

The Pride have outscored their first three league opponents 25-5.

Pitman’s next game will be on the road at Golden Valley at 4 p.m. Friday.

 

Hilmar snaps losing streak after topping Hughson

The Hilmar varsity baseball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 7-5 win over Trans-Valley League foe, Hughson High on Wednesday afternoon.

The win also snapped Hughson’s two game winning streak and dropped them to 2-2 in TVL play thus far.

Hilmar goes to 3-2 in TVL and 9-6 overall heading into their second match with Hughson on Friday.

Hilmar will host Hughson for the final league bout of the year with the game starting at 4 p.m. Friday.
