Since he was drafted in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos, Turlock’s Tom Brandstater has had a career of uncertainty. Less than a year after signing a four-year contract, Brandstater was waived by the Broncos when they drafted Tim Tebow and acquired Brady Quinn from the Cleveland Browns in the 2010 season.
Since then the 6-foot-5 Brandstater has been signed to the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys and finally the St. Louis Rams. He has yet to make a regular season start at quarterback.
That may change as soon as Monday though. With Ram’s starter Sam Bradford hindered by a sprained ankle and backup A.J. Feeley sidelined with a fractured thumb Brandstater could very well make his NFL debut against the Seattle Seahawks on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.
Although it isn’t set in stone, Brandstater has been getting practice reps with the first string offense since Tuesday and has stated that he feels confident if his number is called.
