Turlock American Little League player practices during evaluation week (ANGELINA MARTIN/The Journal).

Turlock American Little League held evaluations this week in preparation for the upcoming season, which will be allowed to start under COVID restrictions once Stanislaus County is in the red tier. Masks have to be worn while playing games and there's plenty of hand sanitizer available for the kids, but they were happy to be out participating in baseball again at Julien Field on Wednesday evening. Just over 200 children have signed up to play so far, and evaluations were held Saturday through Wednesday. According to TALL president Otto Askil, the league is still accepting registrations and those interested can find more information at www.turlockamericanlittleleague.com
