Turlock driver Cesar Hernandez, 28, was arrested early Wednesday morning for evading a Ceres police officer and for a probation violation after he failed to yield for a Ceres police officer.

Officer Eric Gallegos was on patrol at 12:19 a.m. in the 1600 block of Hatch Road when he spotted a vehicle which somebody tried to report stolen earlier in the day. Since the registered owner of the car was in jail and unable to report it as stolen, Officer Gallegos made an investigative stop. Hernandez, however, failed to yield to the officer. When the car slowed to make a right turn onto southbound Central Avenue, the passenger door opened and a passenger jumped out. The officer saw that another passenger threw the car into park at another location.

Police were unable to determine if the car was actually stolen.
