A woman suspected of shoplifting from a Turlock department store was found in possession of narcotics and counterfeit money.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday employees at Kohl’s at 2751 Countryside Drive contact the Turlock Police Department to report a larceny in progress, said police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis.

According to the police report, the woman, later identified as April Anderson, 33, was seen putting items into a bag while in the accessories department.

Anderson was detained at the store and consented to a search when the police arrived, which is when they found her in possession of a phony $100 bill, Lewis said.

Anderson was put under arrest and a more thorough search was conducted, which led to the discovery of the narcotics in her possession, Lewis said.

Anderson allegedly tried to run from the police as they were arresting her, according to the police report.

Anderson was charged with petty theft, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest.
