Collision outside of Denair claims one life

A solo vehicle collision along a rural stretch of road east of Denair resulted in the death of one man, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The name of the deceased had not been released pending next of kin notification.

The collision happened shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday on E. Monte Vista Avenue, east of N. Montpelier Road.

The man was driving a 2005 Nissan pickup eastbound on E. Monte Vista Avenue, when for an unknown reason he allowed the pickup to drift towards the right shoulder. The pickup left the roadway, went up over a berm and into an almond orchard, according to the CHP.

The pickup struck several trees in the orchard before it overturned onto the driver’s side.

The man had been ejected during the crash and was found trapped beneath the pickup. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the CHP at 545-7440.
