Defiant stroll down road gets man arrested
TPD crime scene

A man’s decision to impede traffic after being asked by Turlock Police officers to leave a home earned him an arrest on resisting charges.

Shortly before 6 p.m. Friday, Turlock Police officers responded to a report of a verbal disturbance in the 1400 block of N. Palm St. At the scene officers made contact with Steven Cotter, 29, who was involved in the disturbance.

The officers were able to diffuse the situation by convincing Cotter to leave, but in his departure he stepped out into the middle of the road, causing at least three vehicles to swerve around him, according to the police report.

The officers told Cotter to get out of the road, but he refused. When they made contact with him, he began resisting and was taken into custody on charges of resisting arrest and failing to obey an order.
