Delhi High School teacher arrested in child pornography investigation

MERCED COUNTY — A Delhi High School teacher was arrested Wednesday after a joint investigation by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office and the Fresno Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force into the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Detectives took Patrick Ryan Silva, 38, of Hilmar, into custody at his home on March 18. According to the sheriff’s office, investigators recovered more than 600 images of child pornography during the operation.

Silva was booked into the Merced County Jail on suspicion of felony possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.

Authorities said there is currently no evidence indicating that any of the material involves local children, but the investigation remains active. Detectives are continuing to review digital evidence and follow up on additional leads.
