Delhi woman killed in collision

The California Highway Patrol is continuing their search for the driver that ran from a fiery collision in Ballico that claimed the life of a Delhi woman.

The collision was reported shortly before 1 a.m. July 31 on El Capitan Way, just east of Ballico Avenue.

Killed in the two vehicle crash was Maria Gloria Lemus-Gonzalez, 43, of Delhi.

Lemus-Gonzalez was driving a 2003 Ford Focus westbound on El Capitan Way, when for some reason she allowed the vehicle to drift into the eastbound lane, where it struck a 2004 Ford F-250.

The Ford Focus ignited from the impact, according to the CHP.

Lemus-Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot. The CHP used aircraft and dogs to search for the driver, but to no avail. The driver still remains missing.
