Illegal weapon lands man in jail

A Turlock man stopped for a vehicle infraction ended up in jail after officers found an illegal weapon in his car.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday a Turlock Police officer pulled over a vehicle for speeding in the area of Tully Road and Canal Drive.

The driver of the car, Cody Costa, 28, was on probation and subject to search. In his car officers found a sawed off shotgun.

Costa was arrested on charges of possession of an illegal weapon, being a felon in possession of a firearm and a probation violation.

With some Oakdale and surrounding area residents in attendance, former longtime local businesswoman Lana Casey, 63, pleaded “no contest” to a series of felony counts in Stanislaus County Superior Court on Monday.
