Missing child on Girl Scout outing

What was believed to be a case of a missing child turned the Turlock Police Department out en masse until it was discovered she was on a Girl Scout outing.

A Turlock mother reported her 12-year-old daughter missing after she returned home from work around noon Thursday and couldn’t locate her child.

The girl had been left with her grandfather and was supposed to meet a friend at a park near their home in the 1400 block of Campbell Way, but never arrived according to the police report.

Police believed it was unlikely the girl was a runaway and launched a search for the 12 year old using patrol officers, detectives, volunteers in patrol and a bloodhound.

After close to three hours of searching all the possible locations that the girl could have gone to, the mother remembered she had planned on going to a Girl Scout outing. The troop leader was contacted and confirmed the girl was with the troop.
