A Turlock neighborhood already rocked by the death of three family members has once again witnessed a fatality on their streets.

A man riding a motorcycle in the neighborhood of Ninth Street and Rockwood Avenue was struck by a car Wednesday afternoon and died from his injuries. The man has been identified by the Turlock Police Department as Randell Beede, 51.

The fatal collision was reported around 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Beede was driving his motorcycle northbound on Ninth Street and a Toyota Camry, driven by a 25-year-old man, was headed southbound on Ninth.

The driver of the Camry was attempting to turn left onto Rockwood and turned directly in the path of Beede, Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis said.

Beede, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, sustained a life-threatening injury to his head. He was rushed to a nearby ambulance where he was pronounced deceased.

The 25-year-old remained at the scene of the collision. At this time drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor in the crash.

The Turlock Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is looking to see if any other factors played a role in the collision.

The collision happened in the same vicinity where three family members — Elena Flores, 47, Julia Flores, 20, and Brian Flores, 4 — were killed when they were struck by a suspected drunken driver. The suspect, Luis Miguel Cruz, 28, is facing three counts of murder, vehicular manslaughter and one felony charge of hit and run.

Anyone with information about the collision on Thursday is asked to contact Officer Mike Simbalenko at 668-5550 ext. 6723.
