A Lathrop man with an arrest warrant for murder out of the Oakland Police Department was found in Denair Wednesday during a drug raid by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.

Manuel Santa Cruz Calderon, 23, was wanted by the Oakland Police Department in connection with a homicide. He was found at a home in the 3900 block of Waring Road.

The sheriff’s department was at the home to serve a search warrant on allegations it was being used as a site to grow large quantities of marijuana.

Deputies found more than 180 marijuana plants at the residence.

Calderon was booked into the Stanislaus County jail on the Oakland warrant, as well as charges of possession of cocaine for sale and cultivation of marijuana.

The investigation into the grow site remains open.
