The Turlock Police Department has launched a new partnership with CrimeReports that will allow people information on where and what kind of crimes are happening in the area.

CrimeReports created the National Crime Map, which helps give police the ability to keep the public informed on a regular basis as to what is going on in the community.  The public can access the Crime Map 24 hours a day through the website or through the CrimeReports iPhone application.  The iPhone app is available for free download through the Apple iTunes Store.  This new service allows local citizens to sign up for free e-mail alerts.  Alerts can be customized to be received daily, weekly or monthly.

Turlock’s partnership with CrimeReports was made possible by utilizing a portion of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program Grant that was received from Office of Traffic Safety.  The Turlock Police Department Traffic Unit is able to utilize the National Crime Map to determine areas in Turlock that are experiencing a high volume of traffic related incidents, and in turn provide additional observation, evaluation and enforcement to those areas.
