The Turlock Police Department has arrested a man for attempted carjacking and charged his teen partner for pulling out a knife during the incident.

The suspect was identified as Shaun Santos, 22. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted carjacking and the 14-year-old boy with him was arrested for brandishing a weapon.

The attempted carjacking was reported shortly after 4 a.m. Monday in the 2000 block of W. Main Street.

Santos approached the victim in the car and began trying to pull him out of the car. The victim fought back, which is when the 14-year-old pulled out a knife, according to the police report.

Santos and the teen ran from the scene, but were located nearby and taken into custody, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The victim did receive minor injuries during the fight, but did not need to go to the hospital.
