Turlock Police is looking for the driver of this white 2004 Acura TL, four door, with a California license plate of # 8LMZ774, which was involved in a fatal hit and run collision on Tuesday.

The Turlock Police Department has identified the vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run on Tuesday afternoon and is hoping the public can provide information on the whereabouts of it.

The involved vehicle has been identified as a white 2004 Acura TL, four door, with a California license plate of # 8LMZ774. The Acura has damage to the windshield and front passenger side.

The hit and run was reported to the police department at 3:31 p.m. Tuesday and involved a pedestrian in the 2100 block of Fulkerth Road.

Paramedics were the first to arrive at the scene and immediately began trying to save the man’s life, but his injuries were too severe and he died at the scene.

The deceased is described as an 83-year-old Hispanic man with a last known address in Modesto. As of this Wednesday, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office is still working on notifying the victim’s next of kin.

The collision happened near a bus stop. The victim was in the roadway when he was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling west on Fulkerth. It’s unknown at this time if the victim was attempting to cross the road when he was struck.

Witnesses told officers assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team that it was a small, white car that struck the man and then sped off. The driver took off westbound on Fulkerth Road.

Investigators canvassed the businesses in the area and were able to find surveillance footage of the involved vehicle.

The investigation closed the busy roadway down for about four hours.

“This investigation is a top priority for the Traffic Safety Unit,” said Turlock Police Officer Richard Fortado. “I ask that anyone who may have information about the identity of the responsible suspect or who may have seen the damaged white Acura TL, to please contact me.”
