The Turlock Police Department and Stanislaus State University Police are providing Rape Aggression Defense training to women in Turlock.  The training is offered at no cost to the public. The 12-hour course is broken up into two sessions over a period of two weeks.

The R.A.D. Systems Basic Physical Defense is a program designed to help women overcome the effects of sexual harassment and sexual violence by teaching assertiveness, awareness, risk reduction, risk recognition, avoidance and physical defense strategies.  R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program.  R.A.D. is designed to be offered as a single-sex educational program which creates opportunities for women to grow holistically, emotionally and physically.

The next R.A.D. course is being held May 7 and May 14.  Those interested in registering can contact Turlock Police Department Crime Prevention Officer Taryn Weatherford at 656-3153.
