A 14-year-old was injured in what the Turlock Police Department is describing as a drive-by shooting.

The shooter remains at large, though one arrest has been made in the case, according to the police department.

Shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday the police department received a report of shots fired in the 600 block of Park Street.

Witnesses told the responding officers that an older red boxy Jeep Cherokee and a white Mazda drove down the street and fired shots into the air.

Neither vehicle was located in the surrounding area, but a few minutes after the initial report the police department was contacted by staff at Emanuel Medical Center who reported a teenage gunshot victim had been admitted at the hospital.

The 14-year-old had sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh. The wound was not considered life-threatening, according to the police department.

Police found the individual who drove the 14-year-old to the hospital and identified him as Louie Moreno, 18. Moreno was the driver of the white Mazda, which turned out to be a stolen vehicle, according to the police department. Moreno was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property.

The shooter in the Jeep Cherokee has not been apprehended.
