Shots fired puts Cunningham on lockdown

A report of shots fired prompted a brief lock down of a Turlock elementary school Thursday.

The Turlock Police Department received reports of shots fired in the area of W. Linwood and Montana around 11:25 a.m. Thursday.

Because the reports of shots were close to Cunningham Elementary School the school administration decided to put the school on a brief and temporary lock down, the police department reported.

The area was checked and no shooting victims were located, but officers did find evidence that a firearm had been discharged, Turlock Police spokesperson Officer Mayra Lewis said.
