Suspect takes vehicle at gunpoint

The Turlock Police Department is investigating a potential carjacking outside a Turlock mobile home park Tuesday night.

The suspect was known to the victim, but his identity is not being released at this time, said police spokesman Sgt. Mike Parmley.

The incident began around 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Magic Sands Way.

The victim came outside and found a man he knew pulling a gun on him and demanding the keys to his vehicle. The victim handed the car keys to a friend who was also present and then walked away, said Parmley.

"The suspect then pointed the gun at the friend and he gave up the car keys," Parmley said.

The suspect drove away in the victim's vehicle.

The suspect has been identified and is currently wanted for auto theft related charges and brandishing a firearm. However, the charges may be upgraded pending a witness statement from the victim's friend, who has not been located as of yet.
