A 19-year-old woman sustained life-threatening injuries after her car rolled over multiple times in a Turlock shopping center in a suspected drunk driving collision.

The woman, whose name was not released, sustained critical injuries in the Saturday night crash in the Turlock Town Center at 601 N. Golden State Blvd. She was taken by air ambulance to a local hospital, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The woman was the only person in the solo vehicle crash.

The incident was reported to the Turlock Police Department around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

The woman was driving a 2013 Kia Optima southbound on Geer Road, approaching the intersection with Golden State Boulevard. The police department’s Major Accident Investigation Team believes she was attempting to turn onto southbound Golden State Boulevard at a high rate of speed, when she lost control of the car.

The Kia continued through the intersection into the shopping center parking lot, striking the landscaping and rolling over multiple times. The woman was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. It’s unknown if the woman was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Evidence at the scene indicated alcohol was a factor in the crash and a sample of her blood was taken at the hospital.

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
