The Turlock Police Department is investigating a series of stabbings that have happened in the city over two days, but detectives do not believe the incidents are related.
“We understand the concern and want to reassure our community that these are separate incidents,” the police department said on their Facebook page. “Each case is actively being investigated, and there is no known ongoing threat to public safety.”
Very few details about the three stabbings have been released by the police department.
The first stabbing was reported around 7 p.m. on Easter Sunday in the 1600 block of Lander Avenue.
The victim suffered life-threatening injuries but is expected to survive, according to the police department.
“The suspect, who is known to the victim, is currently in custody in another county for an unrelated offense,” the police department stated. “We are working closely with that agency to add our charges.”
The second incident was reported at 12:20 a.m. on Monday in the 800 block of Park Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No other details were made available.
The third stabbing happened around 9:30 a.m. on Monday in the area of Main Street and Grant Avenue. The victim in that incident was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No other details were released.
“We are aware of rumors suggesting these incidents are connected,” the police department stated on Facebook. “At this time, there is no evidence to support that claim.”
All the investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to contact the Turlock Police Department at (209) 668-1200.
