Truck strikes man walking in middle of Golden State Boulevard
emergency

A man walking in the middle of a Turlock road was struck by a pickup truck Friday and died as a result of his injuries.

The name of the deceased has not been released, pending next of kin notification. He was 51 years old and from Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported at 12:15 a.m. Friday in the area of Golden State Boulevard, just south of W. Barnhart Road.

A 2013 Ford truck, driven by Kaisee Budworth, 22, of Turlock, was traveling southbound on Golden State Boulevard at an estimated 40 to 45 miles per hour, said CHP spokesman Officer Thomas Olsen.

The deceased was walking in the middle of the road and was dressed in dark clothing.

“Due to the limited lighting in the area and the fact the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing, the driver of the Ford was unable to observe the pedestrian in the roadway and the front of the ford collided with the pedestrian,” Olsen said.

The man was taken to Doctors Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Budworth was not injured and was cooperating with investigators.
