The Turlock Police Department has arrested a local man on the suspicion he was the one responsible for an earlier reported bank robbery.

The suspect has been identified as Robert David Perez, 30, of Turlock.

Investigators believe Perez is responsible for robbing the U.S. Bank on Nov. 20.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Nov. 20, a lone suspect entered the U.S. bank at 427 E. Olive Ave. and demanded money. Video surveillance from the bank captured an image of the suspect leaving the bank.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The police did not state if a weapon was used in the robbery.

Turlock Police detectives received a tip from a citizen, and with some further investigation, identified Perez as the suspected bank robber, said Turlock Police Sgt. Stephen Webb.

On Monday Perez arrived at his previously scheduled appointment with his probation officer and was placed under arrest, Webb said.

Stanislaus County Superior Court records indicate Perez was on probation for a misdemeanor petty theft from December 2011. His probation was set to end in March of 2015.

Perez is currently in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail.
