The Turlock Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a cigarette store that happened in the middle of the afternoon on Friday.

The robbery was at Bargain Cigarettes at 1669 Lander Avenue and was reported at 4:42 p.m. Friday.

The suspect entered the store and drew out a handgun, said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Russ Holeman.

He demanded both the cash from the register and cigarettes, and the clerk complied. The suspect then fled the store.

The only description available is that the suspect was a heavyset Hispanic male.
