A domestic dispute between a man and a woman turned violent when the man sped off in the car with the woman only partially out of the vehicle.

The man also crashed the vehicle with his 1-year-old son in the backseat, according to the Turlock Police Department.

David Avina Moreno, 25, of Turlock was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run, willfully causing harm to a child, and driving under the influence causing injury.

The incident began shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Wayside Drive. According to the police report, Moreno and the woman had been arguing. She was attempting to remove their 1-year-old son out of the car when Moreno put the car in reverse and started pulling out of the driveway.

The woman was neither all the way in or out of the vehicle at the time and attempted to hold on, but she fell in the road and was run over by Moreno. The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Moreno continued driving, but didn’t proceed too far before he crashed into a parked car. He then drove away from the scene of the collision.

Moreno was found by police officers driving in the 300 block of Starr Avenue. He was given a field sobriety test, which he did not pass, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Michael Parmley.

The 1-year-old boy was not injured.
