A Turlock man is recuperating from a stab wound inflicted by a man later found hiding in a tree.

The suspect was identified by the Turlock Police Departmet as Alen Makarawij, 38, of Turlock.

The attack happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 3900 block of N. Walnut Road.

Turlock Police officers responded to the scene and found the victim, who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Parmley.

The victim was able to tell the officers that an unknown man had stabbed him and then ran off. The victim also was able to give the officers a good description of the suspect and the direction he fled.

A witness flagged down an officer and said a man was just seen running in the area of the bicycle park. The witness described the man and it matched that of the suspect, Parmley said.

A police officer from Stanislaus State University Police Department assisted in the search for the suspect and located him hiding in a tree, Parmley said.

Makarawij was identified as the attacker by the victim and one witness. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault.
