Two killed in head-on collision out in rural area
emergency

A head-on collision on a stretch of rural road between Patterson and Turlock resulted in the deaths of the two drivers.

The deceased were identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Jose Arrizon Jr., 34, of Patterson and Leeroy Carralez, 81, of Patterson.

The collision was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 12:35 p.m. Monday.

Officers responded out to W. Main Street, south of Carpenter Road and found the wreckage of a silver Chevrolet Silverado truck and a black Chevy Malibu.

Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene.

It’s unclear which direction each vehicle was headed in at the time of the collision. The CHP said one of the vehicles veered into the oncoming lane and the two vehicles collided head-on. The investigation has not yet determined which driver veered out of his lane.

Arrizon was driving the Chevy Malibu and Carralez was driving the Silverado, according to the coroner’s office.

The investigation temporarily closed W. Main Street between Carpenter and Crows Landing roads.

The investigation remains ongoing.
