The Turlock Police Department is investigating two shootings that happened early Friday, one of which resulted in an injury.

It’s unknown at this time if the two shootings are linked or were the acts of two separate suspects.

The first shooting happened just after midnight Friday.

Officers at the police department heard several gunshots, then a report came into dispatch from a security guard stating that someone fired a gun in the 100 block of S. First Street.

Officers responded to the area and found evidence of a shooting, but it didn’t appear anyone or anything had been hit, said Turlock Police Lt. James Silveira.

“It appears a vehicle drove by and the passenger in the vehicle shot six to seven rounds in the air as they passed the area,” Silveira said.

Officers looked, but were not able to locate the responsible vehicle, Silveira said.

The second shooting was reported around 1:30 a.m. Friday and occurred in the area of Taylor Road, Golden State Boulevard and Highway 99.

The incident was reported to the police department after a victim showed up at Emanuel Medical Center with a gunshot injury, Silveira said.

The victim said he was walking in the area when someone fired one shot at him from a passing vehicle. The man was unable to provide a description of the vehicle or the shooter.

The injury was not considered life-threatening, Silveira said.

Both investigations remain open. Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to contact the police department at 668-5550.
