A woman was kicked and robbed Monday morning in the parking lot of a Turlock bank when a thief forcibly snatched her purse away from her.

The woman was in the parking lot of the Chase Bank in the 2900 block of Countryside Drive around 9:30 a.m. Monday. She was approached by an unknown Hispanic man, who grabbed her purse and tried to take it from her, said Turlock Police spokesman Sgt. Russ Holeman.

The woman refused to let go of her purse and eventually fell to the ground, still holding on to it. The suspect then kicked her repeatedly until she let go of the purse.

The man got into the passenger seat of a waiting vehicle and fled the area.

The incident was seen by two witnesses who described the suspect vehicle as being a mid-1990s black Honda Civic or Accord with gold emblems.

The victim's purse was turned into Chase Bank in Manteca later that day.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Turlock Police Department’s tip line at (209) 668-5550 extension 6780 or email tpdtipline@turlock.ca.us.
