A 55-year-old Turlock woman, using a cane to help her walk, was able to fight off three teenagers trying to steal her purse Sunday morning.
Shortly before noon on Sunday the woman was confronted by the three teens as she approached the ATM at the West America Bank at 241 W. Main St.
The teens tried to grab her purse and one threatened to kill her if she didn’t give it up, Turlock Police Lt. Ron Reid said.
The woman was able to fend off the teens and keep her purse, but they did wrestle away her cane, Reid said.
The suspects fled on foot and dropped the cane a short distance away.
The suspects were described as Hispanic boys between the ages of 14 to 16 years old. They were all about 5 feet, 4 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall and around 110 pounds. They all had short dark hair and were wearing light colored T-shirts and blue jeans.
