Denair Elementary Charter Academy students perform their first Ballet Folklrico on Friday.

Denair Elementary Charter Academy students performed their first Ballet Folklórico in front of their families and peers during an assembly on Friday. According to principal Lucy Zamora, the Ballet Folklórico group was formed earlier this year to help promote multicultural education throughout the school. Zamora said that she believed Ballet Folklórico was an important program for her students because it improves their listening and social skills. During the inaugural performance on Friday, over 50 students performed Ballet Folklórico dance routines, including “Rondas Infantiles,” “La Polka Randera,” “La Raspa,” and “Los Machetes,” and donned costumes that represented diverse regions of Mexico.
