The third annual Festival on the Green is more than an opportunity to hear the student bands, orchestras and choirs of the Turlock Unified School District, it’s an opportunity to make musical learning a reality for future students of the District.

The Turlock Unified School District is partnering with the Turlock Education Foundation for the third annual Festival on the Green which features local student musicians, performances and art work as well as several vendors and informational booths. With over 600 performers, the Festival on the Green was a way of consolidating all of the musical events across the District into one day for the entire community to enjoy rather than spreading it over several evenings like in the past.

While the event is free, the Foundation has a partnership with Domino’s Pizza to give 20 percent of the proceeds of pizza sold at the event to the Foundation’s musical instrument repair program which keeps instruments in shape for students of the District to use. Between March 24-30, Domino’s is also donating 20 percent of proceeds to the Foundation’s program for every order that mentions the Turlock Education Foundation.  Pastries and coffee sold at the event in the morning will also support the program.

“This is a great opportunity for us to promote the Foundation and to get our name out there as far as an option for folks who want to support public education. Obviously the repair fund is important and we’re excited to showcase it,” said Barney Gordon, president of the Turlock Education Foundation.

The Festival on the Green will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Pitman High School located at 2575 West Christoffersen Parkway.
